How to work with hsbDesign for AutoCAD® Architecture and Autodesk Construction Cloud (Video)

Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC) offers a range of powerful features for construction professionals. Among these, hsbDesign integration allows for the automatic extraction of plans and other information from DWG files, facilitating collaboration and streamlining workflows. In this tutorial, we will guide you through the process of using hsbDesign on ACC to extract plans, manage files, and collaborate effectively. Let's begin!

Step 1: Accessing Autodesk Construction Cloud

  1. Launch your preferred web browser and navigate to the Autodesk Construction Cloud website (https://construction.autodesk.com/).
  2. Log in to your Autodesk account using your credentials. If you don't have an account, sign up for one.

Step 2: Uploading and Extracting Plans and Information

  1. From the ACC dashboard, click on the "Plans" tab to access the document management system.
  2. Locate and select the project where you want to upload and extract plans and information.
  3. Within the project, click on the "Upload" button and select your DWG file containing the plans.
  4. After the upload is complete, ACC will automatically process the DWG file using hsbDesign to extract plans and other relevant information. This may take a few moments depending on the file size and complexity.

Step 3: Organizing Files and Adding the "hsbCompany" Folder

  1. Once the plan extraction is complete, navigate to the "Project files" tab within your project.
  2. Click on the "hsbCompany" folder in your computer and create a zip file from it.
  3. Now, go back to the project's "Project files" tab, click on the "Upload" button, and select the created ZIP file.
  4. ACC will upload and add the "hsbCompany" folder to the project's documents, making it accessible to the ACC group.

Step 4: Uploading IFC and DWG Files for Collaboration

  1. In the project's "Project files" tab, click on the "Upload" button.
  2. Select your IFC and DWG files, which you want to share and collaborate on.
  3. Once the files are uploaded, they will be available for the ACC group to access and download.

Step 5: Collaboration and File Usage

  1. Project collaborators can now download the "hsbCompany" folder and the DWG file to continue working with hsbDesign.
  2. To access AutoCAD online for viewing and editing the DWG file, click on the DWG file in the "Documents" tab, and select the appropriate option. Note: hsbCAD information is not available in AutoCAD online; for that, you will need to use hsbDesign.
  3. For reviewing the IFC file, click on it in the "Project files" tab. Use the ACC tools to check for clashes and errors wherever needed.

Conclusion

By utilizing hsbDesign on Autodesk Construction Cloud, you can seamlessly upload DWG files, extract plans and information automatically, collaborate effectively with project members, and leverage the powerful tools available within ACC for enhanced project management. Streamline your construction workflows and enhance collaboration using the features offered by hsbDesign and Autodesk Construction Cloud.
