hsbShare | Workflow requisites for hsbShare

hsbLogistics is a mobile app for the construction industry, which allows the user to monitor the location of prefabricated elements.
The elements are scanned using QR codes and grouped into packages.
The packages can then be placed in areas, on trucks or in delivery destinations.
The application allows to quickly scan a package and determine where it resides, change its location, or have an overview of the locations of the prefabricated elements.
This app only works complementary to hsbShare Cloud Service.
An account of hsbShare can be created by going to www.hsbshare.com.

Workflow

With the application it is possible to create a collection of elements and appoint a location to it.
The collection of elements comes from the 3D model itself and is created in hsbDesign for AutoCAD or Revit.
When a model gets uploaded to hsbShare.com, a unique identifier is present for the project and also for the elements inside the model. This combination is one that allows users to create stickers for a specific element with a QR code attached to it.

Inside the factory these stickers are being used to put on the separate elements. After this, whilst packing elements in a package, another QR code can be used to combine all the elements and create a package in hsbLogistics. This QR code (sticker) can be used to put on the package itself.

The package can be moved inside the factory or even onto a truck. The status of a package can be changed and a package can be moved anytime.

When a package arrives on site, the package can be scanned and the construction builder can see the elements inside the package in a viewer of the model. These can be used to facilitate the on-site construction.

Pre-requisites

hsbLogistics needs some basic pre-requisites to function in a working environment.
When looking at the technology, there are some questions to be answered:

  • What device is going to be used? At the moment we support smartphones and tablets that run on Android or IOS.
These can be fitted with an external scanner who reads the QR codes in a better way.
It depends on the environment and conditions which device should be used.
You can decide for a truck driver who has to go outside to fit him with a tablet and a scanner, because the rain and plastic could make it difficult to work with a smartphone and it’s camera.
But for somebody who is working in a clean environment a smartphone could suffice.
  • The hsbLogistics application only works with an active internet connection.
When there is no connection the application will not respond and nothing will be saved.
That connection can come from 4g cellular sim cards or from a permanent Wi-Fi connection.
Both have been tested and work fine.
  • The application is available in the App Store and should be downloaded on each device.
  • In order to work with hsbShare and put models in the cloud, an active hsbDesign needs to be present in the organisation.
This can be either in Revit or AutoCAD. This software can publish models to hsbShare.

When looking at the configuration for hsbLogistics, the following topics should be considered:

  • Every user should have an account on www.hsbshare.com.
You could decide to create one account for all purposes, but you will lose some of the power of hsbShare.
  • In hsbShare a team should be formed with every company user inside the team.
This will be the community where all the models live and all the information is being stored in.
You divide users in privileged users and non-privileged users inside a team.
The difference is explained on our hsbAcademy.
  • Every project that is going to live in hsbShare will need to have a unique identifier.
This can be text or numbers, combined with DWG/RVT-names, or any combination that is needed.
This standard should always be maintained.
  • The structure in the model should be defined. At the moment the product works with elements inside a project.
These element names should be consistent throughout all the projects.
  • It is possible to automatically link documents with hsbShare.
These will also be visible in hsbLogistics.
To set this up, a formalized structure needs to be present. For example, if you would like to link pdf shop drawing files to your elements, the naming of these files should be consistent with the element names.
When the folders are also consistent, the upload will go flawless.
  • When having your model inside hsbDesign, the exporter needs to be created so that it automatically exports the models to hsbShare.
It is possible to work with groups to make the linking with documents automatically.
  • A QR code will be needed for every element.
This code can be generated by our software and additional information can be placed on a label before sending it to the printer. (F.E. Bartender).
This can be configured in a way that suits your company.
  • A QR code will be needed to put on packages.
This needs to be unique. Either, these QR codes with their label are created by software such as Bartender or they are generated out of hsbDesign software.
One option is to have a big list of them and it does not matter when a label is used.
The other option is that the designer already knows how many packages will be needed so that there is only a limited subset printed, only for this one project.

What can be done with the application

1. Create Package / Add Elements Create a package and add element by scanning the QR code.
2. System Stats Display statistics about Areas, Trucks and Delivered status.
3. Search Search project, package or element by typing the name or scanning the QR code.
4. Move Package Change package status by scanning a QR code and edit the delivery Area, Truck and delivery status.
5. Add Truck Add Truck by clicking on “Add Truck”, this adds a Truck number to the list.
6. Add Area Add Area by clicking on “Add Area”, this adds an Area number to the list.
7. Logout Logout by opening the menu by tapping the upper left corner and click on Logout.
