Essential Guide to How to change your AutoCAD® Architecture Profile

This document will show you how to change the AutoCAD® Architecture profile.

  1. Right-click in the command line and select Options.
  2. Select the Profiles tab.
  3. Select a different profile and select the Set Current button

AutoCAD® Architecture will use the profile that is set in the shortcut icon each time the program is started.
Following are the steps to assign a default profile in AutoCAD® Architecture shortcut icon: 

  1. Right-click on the shortcut icon.
  2. Click on Properties > Shortcut tab.
  3. In the Properties dialog box, in the Target section, change the target after/p to the chosen profile.

How to assign a default profile in AutoCAD® Architecture?

Following are the steps to assign a default profile in AutoCAD® Architecture shortcut icon:
Right-click on the shortcut icon.
Click on Properties > Shortcut tab.
In the Properties dialog box, in the Target section, change the target after /p to the chosen profile. Go to Start Menu.

How to make my user profile the default?

To start AutoCAD® Architecture with the profile you want: On the Windows desktop, right-click the AutoCAD® Architecture icon, and click Properties.
In the Properties dialog box, click the Shortcut tab and in the Target text box, at the end, enter /p followed by the name and path of the profile (filename.arg) that you want AutoCAD® to use when it starts.

What to do if you have AutoCAD® and AutoCAD® Architecture installed on your computer?

AutoCAD® can be started in several ways, from clicking on a file within Windows Explorer, via the windows application menu or a shortcut icon on your taskbar or desktop.

AutoCAD® Architecture (ACA) is one of the vertical AutoCAD® toolsets has quite a lengthy command string which loads AutoCAD® with a lot of extra functions.

The target field shown in the image above, shows a link to AutoCAD® Architecture application along with a range of switches that load extra applications and apply some bespoke settings.

But if you want just a plain AutoCAD® icon, create a shortcut icon and set the target command string to;

C:\Program Files\Autodesk\AutoCAD® 2021\acad.exe
